A major municipal workers' compensation program.

 

The Situation:

A municipal firefighter claimed that his colorectal cancer was related to asbestos exposure on the job.

 

The Chartwell Solution:

Due to the novelty of the claim and the potential for hundreds of thousands of dollars in benefits, Chartwell engaged a leading research physician from the University of Pennsylvania to testify in opposition to claimant's allegations.  Although the WCJ awarded benefits, the WCAB reversed the award.
