Douglas J. Cummings, Jr. is an Associate in Chartwell’s Delaware office. Following graduation from Bucknell University (B.A., 1998), he was stationed abroad as a Coordinator of International Relations in a program affiliated with the Japanese government. After returning to the United States and successfully co-founding an e-business, he received an Academic Merit Scholarship to attend Pace University School of Law. During law school he served as a Legal Aide to the New York State Attorney General’s Office, interned with the Honorable Linda S. Jamieson, New York State Supreme Court, Westchester County, and was a selected participant in the White Collar Crime Mock Trial Invitational at Georgetown University School of Law. After completing law school (J.D., 2007), Mr. Cummings was associated with Cerussi & Spring, P.C. then Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien & Courtney, P.C., and gained significant experience litigating commercial matters, as well as defending against allegations of general, director and officer, and construction accident/defect liability. Prior to joining Chartwell, he served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Joseph R. Slights, III, Delaware State Superior Court, New Castle County, where he conducted legal research and drafted opinions resolving complex commercial, workers’ compensation and Constitutional issues. He is admitted to practice in Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, the United States District of New Jersey, the United States District of Connecticut and the United States Southern District of New York. He is highly proficient in Japanese.
Mr. Cummings’ practice concentrates on general and commercial litigation.
