Andrew E. Greenberg testifies before Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Labor Relations Committee addressing proposed Workers’ Compensation Act legislative reform.
Chartwell Law Offices Partner, Andrew E. Greenberg, Co-Chairman of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute, along with other representatives of the Pennsylvania Bar, testified before the House Labor Relations Committee on September 14, 2005 in Harrisburg in connection with the Committee’s goal of bringing about “Improvements to Workers’ Compensation Litigation Procedures.” The Labor Relations Committee, headed by Majority Chairman, The Honorable Bob Allen and Minority Chairman, The Honorable Robert Belfanti, heard from representatives of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry, Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Pennsylvania Defense Institute as well as a number of pro-business groups including the Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Greenberg and the President of PDI, Brian D. Walters, Esquire, outlined for the Committee a series of legislative proposals aimed at improving the efficiency of the workers’ compensation system while affording insurance carriers and employers the ability to effectively defend questionable claims. At the conclusion of the two days of hearings, Chairman Allen announced the formation of an Ad Hoc Sub-Committee that will continue to study various legislative proposals introduced by over the past few months as well as other initiatives that will likely be proposed over the next year. Mr. Greenberg will remain actively involved in the process and will provide updated information on the Chartwell website as matters progress.
