Andrew E. Greenberg scheduled to appear on Law Journal TV, Monday January 15, 2007

Chartwell Law Offices partner, Andrew E. Greenberg will appear as a guest panelist on the weekly television program, “Law Journal” this Monday, January 15, 2006 at 8 pm. The program segment, entitled “Workers’ Comp Settlements – ‘A Culture of Compromise and Release’?” will address the change in character that many feel has occurred over the last ten years in terms of how workers’ compensation claims are administered. From a weekly assessment of the injured worker’s physical condition and workability to the more global concepts of “compromise and release” to the recently imposed “mandatory mediation” the focus of the system seems to be on quick lump sum settlements of claims without regard for the organic nature of the work injuries or week-to-week wage loss compensation. While many feel the change in character will ultimately reduce litigation cost and increase disposition rates, others feel that this “settlement culture” is really anathema to the fundamental policy underlying the Act, i.e. providing weekly wage loss benefits and medical coverage to injured workers in a paternal manner that discourages reckless wasting of occupationally-based earning power. The program promises to offer the viewer an enjoyable and interesting discussion between three prominent attorneys and a highly workers’ compensation judge.
