Angel M. Gomez focuses his practice primarily on workers' compensation defense matters representing insurance carriers, self-insureds, and businesses located in New York. He handles a wide range of issues including causation, apportionment, permanency, and degree of disability.

Mr. Gomez’s experience includes handling:

  • Appellate division appeals on prevalent issues in workers’ compensation.
  • Drafting countless memorandum of law on a wide range of issues ranging from degree of disability to schedule loss of use findings.

Rounding out his experience, is Mr. Gomez’s experience representing claimants at his previous law firm. In this capacity, he represented claimants before the New York Workers’ Compensation Board where he negotiated Section 32 and stipulations on behalf of his clients resulting in favorable settlements.  

Prior to joining the Chartwell Law, Mr. Gomez was an assistant district attorney for Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York where he was responsible for investigations, collecting evidence, preparing civilian and NYPD witnesses for hearings, trials, and presentation to the Brooklyn Grand Jury’s for indictment.

While in law school, Mr. Gomez interned with several organizations – Community Legal Aid in Springfield, Massachusetts, Criminal Defense Division of the Public Defender’s Office in Enfield, Connecticut, and the Employment Rights Division of the Attorney General’s Office in Hartford, Connecticut.
