Everett (Rett) L. Hixson III maintains a robust defense litigation practice representing individuals, businesses and insurance carriers in a variety of matters such as commercial litigation, employment law, construction defect, professional liability, general liability, insurance coverage analysis and creditor’s rights.
In the area of litigation, Rett has handled various commercial disputes such as class and collective actions, landlord and real estate disputes and intellectual property matters pertaining to trademark rights. He is experienced in handling a variety of general liability cases involving construction defects and personal injury suits, plus casualty matters, including coverage disputes and bad-faith litigation.
Rett has a significant employment law and labor relations practice which includes handling matters regarding the enforcement of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, misappropriation of trade secrets, discrimination claims, retaliation and wrongful-discharge claims. He is skilled in representing employers in federal and state courts litigation encompassing Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FLSA, TPPA and THRA cases.
Prior to joining the firm, Rett was an associate attorney for a Chattanooga law firm practicing commercial and general litigation. While in law school, Rett was the research editor for The University of Memphis Law Review, excelled at pretrial litigation, winning the CALI Excellence for the Future Award and served as a judicial extern for United States Magistrate Judge Charmaine G. Claxton for the Western District of Tennessee.
