Joseph C. Raffanello focuses his practice on workers’ compensation defense, representing insurance carriers, self-insured employers, and third-party administrators.
During his time at Chartwell Law, Joe has built a reputation as an efficient and effective litigator. His representation extends across a variety of industries from hospitality, to construction, to food service and retail. His diverse representation allows him to tailor defense strategies that are sensitive and specific to client needs. Joe leverages this diversity of knowledge and experience to develop creative, outside the box, strategies necessary to tackle new and complex issues that clients face in today’s ever changing and rapidly developing legal landscape.
Prior to joining the team at Chartwell Law, Joe spent several years representing claimants before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board, where he gained a reputation as a successful litigator and built a strong rapport with judges and opposing counsel. In addition to workers’ compensation, he previously represented contractors, property owners, and businesses in a variety of different commercial disputes.
Joe’s professional background provides him with unique insight, which allows him to approach cases from varying perspectives in order to identify and execute successful litigation strategies and efficiently reach successful outcomes.
While in law school, Joe worked in the Chambers of the Honorable Paul G. Feinman. He also assisted in the research and drafting of a World Bank Study regarding the use of Information Communication Technology for the promotion of human rights.
Outside of the office, Joe is extremely passionate about writing, playing, and recording music. Growing up in the Long Island punk scene played an instrumental role in the development of his ‘do it yourself’ work ethic and value for a just social, political and economic system.
