Kristy M. Castagna focuses her practice on insurance coverage, insurance defense, and professional malpractice litigation. She has successfully defended professionals in the insurance, healthcare and legal sectors with a focus on insurance agents and brokers.

Ms. Castagna also manages general liability matters and maintains a robust appellate practice. Some of her recent successes include:

  • Defense verdict in favor of her client, an insurance broker, based on insureds’ material misrepresentations related to their residence after a fire loss.
  • Summary judgement in favor of her client, an insurance agency, in a professional malpractice case where plaintiff’s claimed damages over $1,000,000 which was affirmed by the Superior Court.
  • Dismissal of claims against insurance agent on preliminary objections based on improper joinder.
  • Dismissal of professional malpractice claim against insurance agent after uncovering evidence that insured had submitted fraudulent invoices related to repairs and concealed the identity of a witness.
  • Successfully defended her client in an arbitration matter by discovering evidence on social media websites of the plaintiff which negated their injury claim.
  • Resolved a professional malpractice lawsuit filed against a law firm by uncovering evidence that the plaintiff failed to report their personal injury claim in a bankruptcy proceeding.
  • Summary judgement in favor of her client, an insurance agency, based on the statute of limitations which was affirmed by the Superior Court.

As part of her commitment to Continuing Legal Education, Ms. Castagna has taught over 30 seminars in risk management. Most of these seminars have been for attorneys, physicians, accountants, and other professionals.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Castagna was at a Philadelphia based law firm handling professional malpractice.

During law school, Ms. Castagna was a legal intern with the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania
