Mark Houck concentrates his practice in admiralty and maritime litigation in defense of personal injury, wrongful death and marine insurance coverage litigation as well as defense for manufacturers and distributors of marine products and commercial disputes involving vessels and marine industries.

Mr. Houck is a marine insurance practitioner and has drafted and revised marine insurance policies, applications, claims forms and marine liability policies in use in the domestic United States and London markets for marine insurers and their insureds.  Mr. Houck has also served as lead counsel in cases generating nearly $100 million dollars in recoveries for first-party insurers. For nearly a decade, he has taught Marine Insurance as a member of the adjunct faculty at The University of Miami School of Law.

Mr. Houck is known in the marine industry as a creative problem solver with a bright legal mind and is appreciated for his sense of humor and his negotiating skills. He helps his clients by maintaining strong ongoing communication and always working to serve his clients’ best interests. Mr. Houck strives to respect the needs and work requirements of marine underwriters and claims personnel and serve as a legal adjunct to their commercial efforts. Mr. Houck has participated in multiple speaking, seminar and in-house training engagements throughout his many years of practice. He has trained and informed various marine claims and underwriting executives, vessel owners and operators in New York, Florida and London. In addition to his experience with training and public speaking, Mr. Houck has also written and published papers and articles on the broad topics of maritime law and marine insurance.
