Richard F. Ostriak is an experienced attorney with strong ties to the Philadelphia legal community. Prior to Ostriak Birley, where Mr. Ostriak was a founding member, he served as a Public Defender with the Defender Association of Philadelphia. He has also worked for the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, assisting with Fair Housing Issues, and the Office of The Philadelphia District Attorney, in the Homicide Unit. Mr. Ostriak holds Bachelors of Arts degrees with Distinguished Honors in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Temple University and earned his Juris Doctor with Distinguished Performance from the Temple University School of Law. While at Temple, he was an Editor of the Political and Civil Rights Law Review and Coach of the Jessup International Moot Court Team.

Prior to joining Chartwell, Mr. Ostriak maintained his own litigation practice in the areas of professional liability, 1983 Civil Rights litigation, criminal defense and contractual disputes. He has successfully tried dozens of cases to juries in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and is now focused primarily on General Casualty Defense, with an emphasis on commercial litigation.
