For ten years, Chartwell Law partner Jack Huskin has been organizing trips through Rotary International to provide free dental care for patients in the Dominican Republic who would otherwise go without care. Jack has worked with the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry to take students on these dental missions. Under the supervision of professors and dentists, the students administered dental cleanings, fillings, extractions, and sealants.
The March 2020 trip was cancelled due to COVID and neither school has resumed oversees mission trips. Because of this, in November 2021, Jack and several dentists and dental assistants went to the Dominican Republic to provide free dental care for children. The dentists treated 172 patients using portable equipment that Jack purchased through Rotary. Jack hopes to resume student trips by November, 2022.
