Founded in 2002, Chartwell Law began as a four-lawyer workers’ compensation boutique defense firm. In response to our clients’ needs, today with 21 offices located throughout the United States, our attorneys represent and counsel businesses in a wide variety of legal matters ranging from insurance defense to employment law to complex insurance coverage issues to high-stakes commercial litigation.
Chartwell Law clients are comprised of independent businesses, regional organizations with intra-state operations, and large national corporations with locations spanning the United States and the world. Our understanding of key industry sectors — financial services and insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, real estate and construction, ports and maritime, transportation — allows us to provide strategic legal counsel and multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional solutions to our clients.
We believe our clients deserve attorneys with extensive training and experience in the practice area that best suits the clients’ needs. Chartwell Law is comprised of well-experienced attorneys, so clients can expect that they will receive the support they require. We pride ourselves on our well-researched and well-equipped attorneys, some of whom are noted authors of useful legal resources, off of which other attorneys model their practices. Our ultimate mission is to provide excellent legal representation for our clients at competitive rates. We enjoy building relationships with our clients and working with clients as partners, not merely as service vendors.
At Chartwell Law, we believe diversity and inclusion create innovation and a better understanding of the needs and objectives of our diverse clients. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is evident in our hiring practices and employment policies. Nearly a third of Chartwell Law’s ownership consists of diverse individuals. The firm continuously strives to increase the number of women and minorities we employ and strives to place women and minorities in firm leadership positions. Most of our administrative directors and managers are women and minorities. Further, two women and one Hispanic male serve on the firm’s five-member governing committee.
