Chinyere P. Nwabugwu brings significant experience to her civil litigation and insurance defense practice, representing insurance carriers, employers, governmental entities, and private clients in a wide range of matters.
Chinyere is skilled at developing litigation strategy, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, handling discovery, negotiating settlements, and preparing matters for hearings and trial. She has appeared in court and at mediations and regularly advises clients on litigation risk, procedural issues, and opportunities for resolution.
Prior to joining Chartwell, Chinyere handled a substantial workers’ compensation defense caseload on behalf of employers and insurance carriers. In that role, she managed more than 1,000 matters involving case evaluation, motion practice, discovery, settlement negotiations, and hearing preparation. Her insurance defense experience also includes personal injury, premises liability, and automobile litigation, where she prepared pleadings, motions, discovery, case evaluations, and litigation reports and assisted with depositions, investigations, witness coordination, and trial preparation.
Earlier in her career, Chinyere served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York, where she prosecuted criminal matters from arraignment through disposition. Her work included frequent courtroom appearances, motion practice, evaluating evidence, preparing witnesses, negotiating resolutions, and working closely with law enforcement. This experience provided a strong foundation in courtroom advocacy and case strategy that she continues to bring to her civil litigation practice.
Chinyere earned her Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Texas and New Jersey.
