Gustavo Dominguez focuses his practice on civil litigation and insurance-related disputes. He represents clients in a variety of litigation matters and has experience handling cases through all stages of the litigation process.

Prior to joining Chartwell, Gustavo managed a broad range of insurance and civil litigation matters in Florida state courts. His experience includes drafting pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery responses, and appellate briefs; conducting and defending depositions; participating in mediations and hearings; and evaluating liability, damages, and coverage issues. He has also assisted with trial preparation and courtroom strategy, serving as second chair in contested matters.

In addition to his domestic litigation experience, Gustavo has a background in international arbitration, governmental advisory work, and cross-border dispute analysis. He has conducted legal research and drafted submissions in arbitration proceedings, advised on matters involving foreign investment and regulatory issues, and evaluated legal exposure in multi-jurisdictional disputes.

Gustavo is fluent in English and Spanish and regularly assists Spanish-speaking clients throughout the litigation process.

He earned his J.D. and LL.M. in International Arbitration from the University of Miami School of Law, where he received an Arbitration Scholarship, the Director’s Award for Excellence in Legal Research and Writing, and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in International Commercial Arbitration. He also holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, a Master of Business Administration from Instituto de Desarrollo Empresarial, and a law degree from Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja in Ecuador.

Gustavo is admitted to practice in Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the Republic of Ecuador.

Outside of work, Gustavo enjoys traveling with his family, cooking, riding horses, and studying world history and politics.
