Gina Wischhusen is an experienced civil defense litigator who brings more than 15 years of courtroom and case management experience across New York State and federal jurisdictions. She focuses her practice on defending civil matters involving transportation and commercial trucking, premises liability, New York State Labor Law claims, property damage, construction accidents, and subrogation matters.
Prior to joining Chartwell, Gina served as national counsel for a multinational corporation, working closely with risk management teams to oversee complex litigation from early investigation through final disposition. She has substantial experience analyzing insurance and indemnity contracts, drafting tenders, and navigating risk transfer issues. She handles all aspects of litigation including depositions, motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation, and has successfully defended clients in both state and federal courts.
A skilled strategist and dedicated client partner, Gina is valued for her ability to oversee large portfolios of active cases while effectively managing litigation teams. She is highly adept at reviewing and protecting confidential records, evaluating early exit strategies, and advising on removal and jurisdictional issues. She is also OSHA 10 certified, illustrating her depth in construction-related matters.
Gina earned her J.D., cum laude, from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where she graduated in the top 16% of her class and served as Notes & Comments Editor for the Touro International Law Review. She completed her undergraduate studies at Hofstra University, where she earned a B.A. in Psychology and participated in a post-baccalaureate pre-medical program. She is admitted to practice in New York State, as well as the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Gina has been consistently recognized for her legal skill and leadership, including selection to Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars and recognition as a New York Metro Outstanding Young Lawyer and Outstanding Young Women’s Lawyer.
Outside the office, Gina enjoys mentoring young legal professionals and contributing to community initiatives throughout Nassau County.
