Miguel Maldonado Santelises is an attorney in Chartwell’s New York office, where he focuses his practice on general liability litigation while also supporting matters involving cybersecurity risk and technology-related liabilities. He brings a strong background in legal research, writing, and advocacy, combined with interdisciplinary knowledge in cybersecurity and data governance.
Prior to entering private practice, Miguel gained firsthand exposure to litigation and judicial decision-making through his experience at the New York Supreme Court, which informs his insightful approach to motion practice and case analysis.
In his role, Miguel supports litigation and risk analysis matters for corporate clients, including evaluating cybersecurity-related risks and regulatory considerations. His work includes analyzing insurance coverage issues arising from cyber incidents, conducting research on data protection and cybersecurity compliance frameworks, and assessing legal implications related to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. He also assists in evaluating organizational exposure to cyber threats and supports attorneys in addressing technology-related compliance and risk management strategies.
Miguel earned his LL.M. from St. John’s University School of Law, where he received the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for attaining the highest GPA in his class. He also holds a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Fordham University. Prior to his work in the United States, Miguel practiced law in the Dominican Republic, bringing an international perspective to his practice.
