Whitney E. Roth focuses her practice on civil litigation. Her background includes extensive legal research and writing, along with experience analyzing a wide range of legal issues through her work in the courts and in private and public-sector legal settings.

Before joining Chartwell, Whitney served as a judicial law clerk in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Mercer Vicinage. In that role, she conducted legal research, analyzed briefs and court records, and drafted opinions and orders. She also monitored oral arguments and court proceedings and communicated regularly with attorneys, self-represented litigants, and court personnel.

Whitney’s prior experience includes work involving environmental law, regulatory matters, and public policy. While in law school, she worked on matters involving environmental legal issues and completed an internship with the Environmental Permitting and Counseling Section of the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office. She also served as a student clinician with her law school’s Food and Agriculture Clinic and as a research assistant with its Center for Agriculture and Food Systems.

Whitney earned her J.D. from Vermont Law School, where she served as Managing Editor of the Vermont Law Review. She received Academic Excellence Awards for her work in Race, Crimes and Restorative Justice; Food Regulation and Policy; and Fundamentals of Environmental Justice. She also served as a 3L Senator in the Student Bar Association and was a member of its Finance Committee.

Whitney earned her B.A., summa cum laude, in Law, Technology & Culture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, with minors in Communications and History. A four-year Division I women’s soccer player, Whitney served as team captain during her senior year and was a member of the NCAA Student Athlete Advisory Committee. She was also involved in the Pre-Law Society and served as a peer mentor in the university’s History Department.

Whitney is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Massachusetts.
