(Philadelphia, PA) — Chartwell Law is pleased to announce that Susan Cartwright has joined the firm’s Texas team as a partner. With more than 30 years of litigation experience and over 75 jury trials to verdict, Cartwright brings a deep well of courtroom skill and insurance defense knowledge to Chartwell’s national practice.
Cartwright joins the firm after a career spent advising and defending major insurance carriers and their insureds in a wide range of civil matters. She has served in multiple in-house trial counsel roles throughout her career, including positions managing teams of attorneys and support staff across several offices while simultaneously maintaining an active trial caseload.
Her practice includes the defense of personal injury claims, premises liability matters, automobile and trucking litigation, construction defect disputes, products liability, commercial vehicle claims, motor carrier matters, and property damage cases. Her extensive in-house background has given her a sophisticated understanding of claims evaluation, risk analysis, reserving, and litigation strategy, as well as a long history of working closely with claims professionals on case assessments and training.
“We are thrilled to welcome Susan to the firm,” said Texas Partner Barrie Beer. “Her trial record, leadership experience, proven results, and insight into the insurance industry make her a wonderful addition to our team and a valuable resource for our clients.”
In her most recent role, Cartwright managed product liability litigation across North America for a global insurance group, overseeing all facets of claim handling, from initial assessments through negotiation and resolution.
Cartwright is admitted to the Texas and Georgia bars and is an active member of both state bar associations as well as the Dallas Bar Association. She earned her J.D. from the University of Houston School of Law and her B.S. in Journalism from the University of Florida.
