Derek E. Lewis focuses his practice on commercial litigation, consumer financial services litigation, mortgage servicing and lender litigation, professional liability, and property damages claims. Derek has a strong background in mortgage litigation, real-estate matters, professional liability and construction litigation.

Derek E. Lewis focuses his practice on commercial litigation, consumer financial services litigation, mortgage servicing and lender litigation, professional liability, and property damages claims. Derek has a strong background in mortgage litigation, real-estate matters, professional liability and construction litigation.

Derek helps his clients by meeting any legal needs and working with the clients to resolve complex and nuanced cases. He has been exposed to many cases throughout the United States and helped his clients in the litigation process, no matter how contentious. Derek also helps his clients by assessing each specific case, providing valuable counsel, understanding each clients’ needs, mitigating risks and strategizing to ensure an outcome that will benefit his clients.

Prior to joining the legal team at Chartwell Law, Derek represented large national mortgage servicing entities in litigation, including mediations and trials. In addition, Derek has served in managerial roles within the legal departments of large national banks, overseeing mortgage resolution specialists and outside counsel to ensure litigation and other processes were compliant with applicable law, investor, and internal guidelines. While attending law school, he clerked with the State Attorney’s Office, 4th Judicial Circuit.

Prior to practicing law, Derek served as an Avionics Technician, Corporal, in the United States Marine Corps.  When not practicing law, Derek enjoys mountain biking, fishing and traveling.
