

Jillian M. Smaniotto is an experienced litigator who focuses her practice on workers’ compensation defense and general liability defense matters throughout Virginia.
Jillian began her legal career as a judicial law clerk for the judges of the Circuit Court of Henrico County. Following her clerkship, she developed a broad litigation practice across several substantive areas of law, with a primary focus on workers’ compensation defense, general liability defense, and medical malpractice defense. She has briefed and argued multiple appeals before the Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission and the Court of Appeals of Virginia.
A proud double spider, Jillian earned both her Bachelor of Arts degree (2012) and Juris Doctor (2016) from the University of Richmond. During law school, she was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board, serving on its executive board and representing the school in regional and national trial advocacy competitions.
As an undergraduate, Jillian was a member of the University of Richmond's Division I Swimming & Diving Team, contributing to three Atlantic 10 Conference Championship teams and earning six conference championship medals during her collegiate career.
In her spare time, Jillian can be found logging miles on her Peloton, swimming, reading, cheering on Philadelphia sports teams ("Go Birds!"), and spending time with her dog, Luigi Giuseppe.
Jillian is admitted to practice in Virginia and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
