Otavio Cunha focuses his practice on insurance coverage litigation, first-party property claims defense, and maritime law. He represents insurers in coverage disputes and first-party property matters, managing cases from early assessment through resolution and supporting clients through all stages of the process.
In addition to his insurance coverage practice, Otavio is part of Chartwell’s Maritime team, where he represents national cruise lines in federal personal injury cases involving injured passengers and crew members. His work regularly involves matters governed by maritime law and federal jurisdiction, requiring close attention to the procedural and substantive nuances unique to maritime litigation. Balancing this work alongside his first-party property practice has allowed Otavio to develop versatility across multiple practice areas.
Before joining Chartwell as an associate, Otavio gained valuable experience as a law clerk with the firm and as a legal intern for J. Global Energy Inc. He earned his J.D. from St. Thomas University College of Law and his B.A. from Florida State University.
Otavio is admitted to practice in Florida and is a member of The Florida Bar, including the Business Law and Trial Lawyers Sections. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
