Randi Leath maintains a multidisciplinary practice focused on trucking and transportation litigation as well as trademark and intellectual property matters.
In her transportation practice, Randi defends clients in cases involving catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, property damage, and breach of contract claims. She works closely with clients and litigation teams to assess risk, develop strategic defenses, and pursue favorable outcomes in the most efficient manner possible.
Randi also plays a key role in Chartwell’s Trademark, Copyright, and Intellectual Property practice, advising businesses, entrepreneurs, and creators on protecting and enforcing their brands. Her IP work includes clearance and registration before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, portfolio management, licensing and coexistence agreements, and brand enforcement strategies. She has experience responding to office actions and assisting with trademark disputes, helping clients safeguard valuable intellectual property assets while aligning strategy with business goals.
Before joining Chartwell, Randi founded an intellectual property law firm, where she partnered with creative entrepreneurs on complex IP transactions and represented clients before the USPTO. Her background as an artist and graphic designer informs her business-minded approach to brand protection and creative assets.
Randi earned her Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in 2019 and her Bachelor of Arts from DePaul University in 2016. She is admitted to practice in Illinois. A former Division I volleyball player, Randi brings the same discipline and competitive focus to her legal practice.
Outside of the office, Randi enjoys exploring the local arts scene and creative communities.
