Tomisha Stanford focuses her practice on personal injury defense, drawing from a unique blend of public service, judicial experience, and human rights advocacy. She brings to Chartwell a deeply informed legal perspective shaped by a decade of practice, including extensive work as a judicial staff attorney and law clerk in Georgia’s trial courts.
Before entering private practice, Tomisha held senior legal and executive roles at the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, where she advised on community development programs, housing initiatives, and the administration of the state’s $1.3 billion Private Activity Bond Allocation Program. She also played a key role in developing regulatory compliance protocols and improving accessibility for limited English proficiency stakeholders.
Fluent in Spanish and proficient in Arabic, Tomisha has an academic and professional foundation in international human rights law, having earned an LL.M. from Northwestern University. She has participated in global human rights advocacy efforts across Africa and Asia and has supported access to justice efforts domestically through pro bono work and interpreter access initiatives.
Tomisha holds a J.D. from Mercer University School of Law and a B.A. in Spanish, magna cum laude, from Howard University. She is admitted to practice in Georgia and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and is an active member of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, where she served as the 2024 Community Service Co-Chair. When she’s not practicing law, Tomisha enjoys attending concerts, international travel, and maintaining her 500+ day reading streak—reigniting her love for books.
