Veronica Harris is an associate in Chartwell Law’s New York office, where she focuses her practice on workers’ compensation defense. She represents insurance carriers and employers, bringing a strong foundation in litigation, advocacy, and client service. Prior to beginning her legal career, Veronica worked as paralegal handling foreclosure, corporate compliance, and financial regulatory matters.

Veronica earned her J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where she gained hands-on litigation experience through both prosecution and defense-focused clinical programs. As a student prosecutor, she represented the People of the State of New York in misdemeanor matters, conducting case investigations, and plea negotiations. In recognition of her dedication to justice, she earned the Clinical Prosecution Practicum Achievement Award. She also represented indigent defendants through Hofstra’s Criminal Justice Clinic, where she developed mitigation plans, negotiated with prosecutors, and successfully secured a dismissal based on speedy trial grounds. By her graduation, Veronica received the Gold Award for Public Service for completing over 750 hours of Pro Bono work.

Veronica is passionate about mentorship and community service. She previously served as Vice President of the Black Law Students Association at Hofstra University, judged Mock Trial and Moot Court competitions for the Northeast Regional Black Law Students Association, and organized a Book Drive benefitting students taking AP African American Studies at her local high school.

Prior to law school, Veronica studied Journalism at St. John’s University and wrote for the New York Daily News. As a lifelong storyteller, Veronica enjoys reading with her book club, attending live music events, and exploring the New York City restaurant scene.
