One of Chartwell’s Atlanta-based attorneys, Lindsay C. Lee, recently authored a book review for The Atlanta Lawyer, the official publication of the Atlanta Bar Association. In her article, From Advocate to Activist: A Meet & Greet with Robert Bilott, Lindsay highlights the extraordinary work of environmental lawyer Robert Bilott, whose legal battle against DuPont inspired both his book Exposure and the major motion picture Dark Waters.
The review explores Bilott’s decades-long fight to hold chemical manufacturers accountable for contaminating public water supplies with PFAS, often referred to as “forever chemicals.” Lindsay offers a thoughtful discussion of Bilott’s story, including his impact on environmental law and the broader responsibilities of lawyers in confronting issues that shape public health and safety.
