(Philadelphia, PA) — Strengthening its litigation bench in the Southeast, Chartwell has added seasoned trial attorney James Theodore Hankins III as a Partner in its Atlanta office. He joins the firm with significant experience handling complex civil litigation matters, including premises liability, general negligence, negligent security, and transportation-related claims.
James works closely with clients to assess liability and exposure, develop case strategy, and manage policy limit demands. His experience includes drafting and arguing dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, and serving as first-chair trial counsel. In addition to his litigation work, he regularly advises clients on risk management and regulatory compliance, partnering with governmental authorities to address code compliance issues and providing training on emerging legal trends.
“With his strong trial experience and client-focused mindset, James enhances both our Atlanta office and our practice as a whole,” said Chartwell Partner Robert Luskin. “He has a natural ability to manage even the most challenging cases while keeping client priorities front and center.”
James has a proven track record of success, including multiple summary judgment victories in both state and federal courts. He also has extensive experience leading litigation teams and managing client relationships, contributing to consistent growth and performance throughout his career.
James earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Georgia. He is admitted to practice in Georgia, North Carolina, and Alabama and is an active member of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association and the National Retail and Restaurant Defense Association, where he serves on the planning and membership committees.
