Chartwell Law continues its growth in the southern United States with the addition of partner Leslie M. Whitten and its first office in South Carolina, the firm’s 20th office.

Whitten, who joins Chartwell Law from Clement Rivers, LLC, will continue her workers’ compensation defense practice as well as her cybersecurity and privacy practice. Through the International Association of Privacy Professionals, she earned the distinction of being a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).

“I love Chartwell Law's focus on teamwork. The attorneys at this firm are genuinely concerned with helping clients and other attorneys to succeed,” states Whitten. “It’s great to see the firm’s genuine desire to provide excellent service through hard-earned, authentic relationships.”

The addition of Whitten to Chartwell Law continues the firm’s growth trajectory. Last month, the firm opened an office in Atlanta, Georgia, and brought on lateral hire Jeffrey M. Melcher who heads the firm’s Georgia office and is building the firm’s practice in Tennessee. More office openings and new attorneys are planned throughout 2021.

“Our clients seem to like our ability to serve them in more and more states, that’s been the driving force behind our expansion plans,” said Megan Dougherty, a member of the firm’s Administrative Committee. “Leslie is a great addition to our firm, and she fits in well with our culture of hardworking and decent, humble people who are accessible and responsive to our clients. We are delighted that she is joining us.”

The firm’s South Carolina office is located at 4000 S. Faber Place Drive, Suite 300, Charleston, South Carolina, 29405. The office can be reached at 843-484-4604.

With over 170 attorneys in 20 offices throughout the eastern United States, Chartwell Law attorneys represent and counsel businesses in a wide variety of legal matters ranging from general liability to complex insurance coverage issues to high-stakes commercial litigation. Founded by four lawyers in 2002, Chartwell Law was recently named one of the fastest-growing firms by the National Law Journal.
