(Philadelphia, PA) — From its beginnings as a bold, collaborative idea among a few attorneys seeking a better way to practice law, Chartwell Law has grown into a national firm with more than 300 attorneys—a milestone that reflects not only expansion but also a shared culture of collaboration and care.
Reaching 300 attorneys marks an important moment in Chartwell’s ongoing evolution. What began as a small firm with a single office in Pennsylvania in 2002 has grown into a national litigation firm serving clients from nearly 40 offices across industries and practice areas, including insurance coverage, first-party property, construction, commercial litigation, and the fast-growing trucking and transportation sectors.
“Our growth has been intentional and grounded in our values,” said Charles (“Chuck”) Barreras, a Founding Partner who was elected earlier this year to serve as Chartwell’s first Managing Partner. “Growth at Chartwell has always meant more than just adding people, offices and practice areas. We built this firm by attracting good and decent people who care deeply about what they do, one another, our clients, and our communities. In doing that, we created a culture of shared success, a place where a rising tide raises all boats. That’s what makes Chartwell so unique.”
Celebrating with Purpose—300 Random Acts of Kindness
To celebrate this milestone, Chartwell is launching “300 Random Acts of Kindness,” a nationwide initiative encouraging attorneys and staff to spread kindness in everyday ways—from holding a door for a stranger to checking in on a loved one, volunteering at a shelter, or donating to important causes. Employees are invited to share their acts with the firm as part of a collective effort to reach—and surpass—300 acts of kindness.
This initiative reflects Chartwell’s long-standing commitment to compassion and community involvement, already woven into programs like Chartwell Cares, First Friday Shout Outs, and the firm’s Volunteer Time Off program.
