Kimberlee A. Farr approaches workers’ compensation litigation with the mindset of both an advocate and a decision-maker, bringing a rare blend of adjudicatory experience, measured judgment, and institutional insight to every matter she handles.
As a Partner at Chartwell, Kimberlee focuses her practice on representing employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation claims throughout North Carolina. She manages a substantial, litigation-heavy caseload, regularly appearing before the North Carolina Industrial Commission and handling matters through appeal. Her practice includes multi-party claims involving statutory employer defenses, as well as matters arising from layered employment relationships, including work involving temporary staffing agencies and non-insured employers.
Before returning to private practice, Kimberlee served within the North Carolina Industrial Commission, including as a Special Deputy Commissioner. In that role, she presided over pre-trial proceedings, ruled on motions, and issued orders in a fast-paced adjudicatory environment. This experience provides her with a unique perspective on how claims are evaluated and decided—insight that directly informs her approach to representing clients.
Kimberlee has earned the trust of insurers and employers through her work on high-stakes matters, including claims involving Fortune 5 companies and multi-state self-insured clients, as well as non-insured matters requiring careful risk assessment and strategic handling. She is frequently sought out for her ability to assess risk and develop creative settlement solutions when appropriate. In addition to her client work, Kimberlee is deeply committed to mentorship, regularly guiding associate attorneys on courtroom conduct, case strategy, effective case management, and professional development.
Kimberlee earned her Juris Doctor from Elon University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in North Carolina.
