(Philadelphia, PA) — Experience on both sides of the workers’ compensation system brings clarity to challenging claims, and that perspective shapes Kimberlee A. Farr’s practice as she joins Chartwell as a Partner. Kimberlee brings a rare combination of adjudicatory experience and frontline litigation insight to the firm, having served both as a decision-maker within the North Carolina Industrial Commission and as an advocate for employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation matters.
In her practice, Kimberlee represents employers and insurers across North Carolina in litigation-heavy workers’ compensation claims, regularly appearing before the Industrial Commission and handling matters through appeal. Her experience includes sophisticated, multi-party claims involving statutory employer defenses, as well as disputes arising from layered employment relationships, including those involving temporary staffing agencies and non-insured employers.
Prior to returning to private practice, Kimberlee served within the North Carolina Industrial Commission, including as a Special Deputy Commissioner. In that role, she presided over pre-trial proceedings, ruled on motions, and issued orders in a fast-paced adjudicatory setting. That experience provides her with an insider’s understanding of how claims are evaluated and decided, an advantage that informs every case she handles.
Kimberlee has earned the confidence of insurers and employers through her work on high-exposure matters, including claims involving Fortune 5 companies and multi-state self-insured clients. She is widely respected for her ability to effectively assess risk and pursue resolutions aligned with client goals.
Beyond her litigation practice, Kimberlee is known for her commitment to mentorship and professional development, regularly working with associate attorneys to strengthen courtroom presence and effective case management.
“Kimberlee’s background gives her a level of insight that is both uncommon and invaluable,” said Chartwell Partner, Joshua Gray. “She understands not only how cases are argued, but how they are decided, and that perspective strengthens our ability to deliver effective representation for our clients.”
Kimberlee earned her Juris Doctor from Elon University School of Law and is admitted to practice in North Carolina.
