Laura M. Maletta represents major insurance companies in complex insurance coverage disputes, handling first-party and third-party claims in state and federal courts nationwide.  Her expertise spans various policies, including commercial property, builder’s risk, equipment breakdown, commercial general liability, and terrorism and political violence insurance. She has also defended insurers, municipalities, universities, and manufacturers.

Laura ensures her clients' matters progress efficiently while preserving their interests. With experience on both sides of the aisle, she has represented insurers and insureds in coverage, personal injury, and property damage cases.

Her representative matters include:

  • Securing a motion to dismiss for primary and excess insurers in cases seeking over $100 million in COVID-19 business interruption coverage.
  • Representing a NYC developer, settling a $2.2 million claim for property and soft cost damages from a frozen pipe burst before depositions.
  • Handling a Superstorm Sandy coverage claim for a restaurant, achieving a favorable settlement.
  • Successfully navigating a complex case post-fire, addressing property damage, business interruption, and new building codes, leading to a settlement within a year of filing suit.
