Matthew Kouri focuses his practice on general liability and casualty defense, with a particular emphasis on representing clients in the transportation industry. He regularly represents businesses, motor carriers, organizations, and employers in litigation matters arising from trucking accidents, construction claims, and product liability claims.
Matt has extensive experience litigating in both state and federal courts in Missouri and Illinois and is deeply involved at every stage of the litigation process. His practice often begins with immediate response to serious accidents, including pre-suit investigations and early case assessment, and continues through discovery, motion practice, depositions, mediation, and trial. This hands-on approach allows him to develop strong factual records early and position cases for efficient and effective resolution.
With a primary focus on transportation-related matters, Matt brings a practical understanding of the legal and operational issues facing motor carriers and trucking companies. He is a member of the Transportation Lawyers Association and is actively engaged in the trucking defense community, regularly presenting at industry conferences and contributing written commentary to trucking-focused publications.
Matt is admitted to practice in Illinois and Missouri, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.
