Chartwell Law continues to expand its reach with the addition of a new partner, Jeffrey W. Melcher, and the opening of its first office in Georgia. The new office, located in Atlanta, will focus on handling all aspects of insurance coverage analysis and disputes, general liability matters, commercial litigation, workers’ compensation defense litigation and employment law matters. This is the firm’s 19th office spread among eight states including some of the country’s most litigious states.

Attorney Jeffrey W. Melcher has been tapped to lead the firm’s efforts in building its practice in the southeast United States. Chartwell Law attorneys Albert J. Wollermann and Lori L. Bethea will join Melcher in building the firm’s Georgia practice. Additional lawyers in the southeast will be announced shortly.

“I think there is a great benefit to the client in having one firm handle work in multiple states. We get to know our clients better, and they can rely on consistent results, reporting and service standards across a wide portion of the country,” noted Tom Strohmetz, a founding partner at Chartwell Law.

The addition of the Atlanta office furthers Chartwell Law’s expansion plans. Abbey Lacheen, a member of the firm’s Administrative Committee, noted, “We are thrilled that Jeff is joining our team as we continually develop and extend our client-base on a national level. Our growth has been due, in large part, to having a good group of hardworking and decent people who strive to remain humble, work daily at being accessible and responsive to our clients, and who genuinely enjoy working together.”

Melcher brings more than 30 years of experience in commercial and insurance defense litigation. He has served as regional defense and coverage counsel for numerous major liability, casualty defense, and D&O and E&O carriers. Melcher has broad-based litigation experience successfully litigating commercial and coverage actions nationwide with a focus on the southeast. His significant, varied experience includes representing clients across the medical and allied health care fields, defending trucking and transportation claims, insurance and bad faith claims, toxic tort, and product liability matters, as well as the full array of commercial litigation.

With over 160 attorneys in 19 offices located throughout the United States, Chartwell Law attorneys represent and counsel businesses in a wide variety of legal matters ranging from general liability to complex insurance coverage issues to high-stakes commercial litigation. Founded by four lawyers in 2002, Chartwell Law was recently named one of the fastest-growing firms by the National Law Journal.
