Marcus G. Mahfood is an experienced federal court litigator specializing in the areas of admiralty and maritime law and insurance coverage litigation. Through years of working with London and domestic insurers, Marcus understands the nuances in marine and non-marine insurance practice and policy.
Marcus’s practice includes handling a wide variety of first and third-party marine insurance claims, yacht and recreational boat matters, personal injury and wrongful death claims, crew and passenger claims, property damage and hull claims, general liability and premises liability claims, products liability, salvage, boat fires, and claims falling under the Limitation of Liability Act.
He also regularly defends vessel owners, cruise lines, charterers, operators, marinas, P&I Clubs, and insurers in claims brought pursuant to the Jones Act, General Maritime Law, and the Death on the High Seas Act. Marcus handles claims in arbitration as well as in state or federal courts, should those claims proceed to a jury trial or appeal.
Marcus also defends marina facilities, product manufacturers and suppliers, ranging from pleasure craft manufacturers to marine safety equipment and rigging manufacturers.
For years, Marcus has successfully represented domestic and foreign insurers in coverage claims and litigation in the areas of marine, commercial, and property insurance coverage.
