Derek H. Lloyd

Derek H. Lloyd practices in all areas of civil litigation, including premises liability, trucking liability, automobile liability, first-party property, insurance coverage, subrogation, products liability, medical and professional malpractice, nursing home malpractice, general liability, and employment law. Derek has defended in catastrophic injury cases throughout his long legal career. He has also worked with several well-known retail establishments and property insurers. Derek works to ensure a positive outcome for his clients. His hard work has resulted in multiple defense verdicts, prevailing on Motions for Summary Judgment and Motions to Dismiss for Fraud upon the Court.

Derek practiced law in Chicago, Illinois for several years, trying cases to verdict in Cook, DuPage, and Lake Counties, before being admitted to the Florida Bar and moving to Miami, Florida. He has tried cases in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties, as well as counties in Central and Northern Florida, and has appeared in courtrooms throughout the State of Florida. In addition to being admitted to practice in all State Courts of Florida, Derek is admitted to the Illinois Bar and the United States District Courts of the Southern District of Florida, the Middle District of Florida, and the Northern District of Illinois. He is also an active member of the Florida Bar Association.

While in law school, Derek completed an internship with the Honorable Harry D. Leinenweber, United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, as well as an internship with the Dade County State Attorney’s office.

Derek currently resides in Boca Raton, Florida, where he is the proud husband to wife Jessica and father to son David and daughter Chloe.
